Main Street Hatboro was founded in 1995 and incorporated in 2000 as a non-profit 501-c volunteer organization dedicated to the revitalization of the downtown area of the borough. In the ensuing years a similar program called Elm Street Hatboro was established to provide for the revitalization of other areas of the borough. This is accomplished by special promotions and community events and the efforts of the Main Street Manager to promote the benefits of locating businesses and merchants in the community. The Main Street and Elm Street programs are a Borough sanctioned program overseen by the Hatboro Chamber of Commerce.

Like all volunteer programs, funding is a vital necessity. The Borough of Hatboro, the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce and the business persons of the borough all provide some funding, but still more is needed. In 2006 Main Street Hatboro established a committee to conduct a Model Train Show to raise additional funds for the program. Over the past twelve years this committee has held an annual show on the first Saturday in December and has raised and donated $47,500.00 to the Main Street/Elm Street Hatboro programs.
